On February 21, 2023, EdWeek released a special report titled "Student Motivation & Engagement: What Works and How to Put it Into Action." The report is comprised of several articles and is designed to help district leaders really dig into the issues around student motivation and academic success.

While always at the forefront of their minds, this has become a hot topic for leaders in recent years, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Not only are leaders seeing an impact on students academic success, they are also concerned with students' social emotional wellness. Pair this with the fact that students and teachers were physically separated for such a long time, which was a new experience for most teachers, and you end up with a perfect storm where many educators are still struggling to determine the best way to support and motivate students.

To help leaders get to the root of motivation and engagement issues, EdWeek's collection of articles covers topics such as school-based mentors, paid mentorship programs, work-based learning, ways to inspire a love of learning, and survey data detailing the difference between student and teacher motivation.
